It is the journey I embarked on to become a SMBC (single mother by choice), around the same time that I announced to the world I was a photographer. I searched for women who had already embarked on the journey, and offered them a free photo session. I used that time behind the lens to get them to talk about their journey into motherhood. I wanted to find out their honest thoughts and maybe if they had any regrets.
At first I called the series “Worthy Mothers.” I soon realized that it wasn't just single women wanting to create families. Same sex couples and single men were also seeking ways to become parents. Foster, Adoption & Surrogacy as well as all the medical breakthroughs in fertility treatments were all viable ways for anyone to become a parent. I soon realized that the common denominator in all my subjects’ journey toward parenting was LOVE.
