My personal photographs have opened me to a multitude of dimensions. I consider my photography practice a spiritual practice. It connects me to the core of my being and the core of the Universe. My process is much like a ritual or meditation, one that is intuitive and allows me to capture an indelible energetic signature. These photographs are a conduit that channels wisdom and wonder. People rarely appear in my personal pictures. I choose to leave that space for the viewer. I want you to enter the image, imagining yourself there, feeling as I did when making the photograph, that sense of connection to a vast source of unlimited energy.
WHEN TAKING PHOTOGRAPHS, TIME SEEMS TO DISSOLVE. I BECOME AWARE OF EVERYTHING AROUND ME. I POSITION MYSELF AT ONE PARTICULAR POINT IN SPACE AND TIME TO BEST HARNESS THE ENERGY WITHIN THE SCENE. I AM OFTEN ON THE GROUND, BUT I AM ALSO FOND OF THE AIR.
ONCE THE COMPOSITION IS FINE-TUNED, I TAKE A BREATH AND OPEN THE SHUTTER. I CONSCIOUSLY VISUALIZE THE LIGHT ENTERING THE LENS, TRAVELING THROUGH THE APERTURE, INTO THE CAMERA, ONTO THE CCD SENSOR AND RECORDING ON ITS CIRCUITS. I CONNECT TO THE SCENE ON AN ATOMIC LEVEL AND FEEL AS THOUGH I AM NURTURING A RELATIONSHIP WITH THE LIGHT. BY ACKNOWLEDGING THE BEAUTY IN FRONT OF ME, I BECOME ONE WITH THE SCENE AND CONNECT TO SOMETHING INFINITELY LARGER THAN MYSELF.
