WaterColour is the combination of two ongoing personal projects, the Colour Series and the Water Series. The Colour Series includes all of the tennis, skateboarding, basketball and track imagery, while the Water Series covers swimming and diving. The overall intention which intertwines them both is to explore the intersection of sport and art through shape, shadows and movement. Athletes include Olympic medalists and professional athletes including Jerome Blake, Caroline Burckle and Katrina Young, amongst others. I put this project together to capture sports photography in a unique way that speaks to my personal style and how I view the world - colorful, artful and simplistic. My goal was to create conceptual imagery that would transform how we see everyday spaces and shine a light on the hidden beauty and magic we come across whenever we go out into the world. I also intended for these images to transcend sports and reflect the human experience in general, with varying visual metaphors and interpretations across the project.
