During the fall every year, the sweet, sometimes citrusy smell of hops wafts through the air in the Yakima Valley. The area is a world-renowned region for its production of hops, an essential ingredient in beer brewing, with hop farms stretching for miles. Hop harvest runs around the clock for nearly a month every fall, with thousands of workers coming into the area for a short time to help get the hops from vine to cup. We photographed at some of the largest hop farms in the country, telling the story of the harvest and highlighting the scenic beauty of the region.
